Individual customers have less to worry about when they pay by recurring billing (PPD) than they do when they pay by a paper check. When a check is used for payment many different people usually handle it before it gets back to the check writer’s bank. When different people handle the check security problems for the customer arise because their information is printed on the check. With recurring billing the information is encrypted and sent through secure wires of the ACH Network to the Federal Reserve Bank. There is an immediate record of who initiated the payment and the account that will be credited for the payment. If a potential debit was made to a check writer’s bank account they can contact their bank and have the transaction reversed.
